Math Club

Peterson's Math Olympiad Club meets weekly Wednesday after school, 1:35pm - 2:45pm in room D-4.  The club will explore math concepts in small groups, study for and participate in math contests, including Math Olympiad, Math Counts, AMC8, and the Harker Invitational.  The Math Olympiad Club will :

  • stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics
  • introduce important Mathematical concepts
  • teach major strategies for problem solving
  • develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems
  • strengthen Mathematical intuition
  • foster Mathematical creativity and ingenuity
  • provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges

This very popular club and participation is limited to 35 students.  Students will take a placement test during the first meeting; the meeting for the 2018 - 2019 school year is not yet scheduled.  

NOTE:  this club is run by parent volunteers; more parent volunteers are needed in order for the kids to work in small groups.  Parent volunteers must have a completed and approved Volunteer Application, Level "D" on file with the Peterson office.
