This is Mr. Namba’s sixth year teaching here at Peterson Middle School, having previously taught within a diverse community as part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).  He was born and raised in San Jose where he attended Bellarmine College Preparatory. He later earned a BS in Biology, and has performed both undergraduate research studying plant genetics and graduate research studying extreme microorganisms (extremophiles) in the field of Astrobiology in collaboration with JPL/NASA in Pasadena.  He absolutely believes that one must actively DO science in order to LEARN science, and fully intends to utilize this hands-on/interactive/immersive approach as much as possible throughout the entire year!
