Dear Peterson Parents and Students,
We invite you to join the Peterson PTSA and help support the students, teachers, staff, and parents in the Peterson Middle School community in shaping our wonderful and successful school.
What is PTSA? PTSA stands for Parent Teacher Student Association. We are part of the California PTA and national PTA. For over 120 years, the PTA’s goal has been to advocate on behalf of children and youth. We have the PTA to thank for public kindergartens, federally-funded hot lunches, child car seat laws and many other student and youth focused initiatives. Some of Peterson PTSA’s funded activities this year include:
- Welcome Back Luncheons
- Staff & Teacher Luncheons
- Parent Education Events
- Mini Grants for Teachers
- Mini Grants for Clubs
- Mini Grants for Classrooms
- Red Ribbon Week
- Coffee with Counselors
- Reflections Art Program
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Gift to ASB Programs
- Gift to School
Direct Donation Campaign funds are used to support the above programs and to support a new mini grant program that will help support after-school clubs, enrichment activities and provide free admission to events like ASB dances. Funds are also used to supplement technology and school programs to improve health, fitness, safety and positive school climate. Please help make all this possible by donating to the PTSA’s Direct Donation drive!
Why join? Membership dues support our local PTSA as well as our council, district, state and national PTAs who work on statewide and national initiatives that benefit all children and families.
Joining PTSA is not an obligation to volunteer. It is a gesture to show support for your children and school community. All Peterson community members are invited to PTSA General Association meetings, but only members can vote on the budget, proposed activities, and board officers.
Research has proven that children do better when parents, school staff, and the community work together. PTSA’s mission is to improve grades, test scores, and the quality of school life by involving parents, teachers, and students to work toward common goals.
