To enter 7th grade, it is mandated by law to have a Tdap (whooping cough) and two (2) Varicella (Chicken Pox) immunizations. An immunization record showing the date your child received the vaccine, a signature, and a stamp of the doctor or clinic that provided the vaccine.
If we do not receive this documentation before the first day of 7th grade, your child will not receive a class schedule to start the 7th grade.

Registration for the current school year is ongoing throughout the year.

Rising 6th Graders
- If your child is not currently enrolled in a Santa Clara Unified School elementary school, please go to the SCUSD Enrollment homepage for information about how to enroll.
- If your child is currently enrolled in the 5th grade in a Santa Clara Unified elementary school
- and your home address falls within Peterson's attendance area, your child will automatically roll over to us for the next school year. Your will complete your child's Annual Student Information Update through an online system called SchoolMint. For more information about this process, please see the SCUSD Enrollment / Annual Student Information Update webpage.

- If your home address is not in the Peterson attendance area but you would like to apply for a spot at Peterson, then you must go through the Open Enrollment Lottery process starting in January. See the Open Enrollment page of our website.

Rising 7th and 8th Grade Students
If your child is currently enrolled with us, and is not on an Intra-District transfer, they will automatically rollover into the next school year. You do not need to re-enroll your child. You will complete the Annual Student Information update through SchoolMint . See the SCUSD / Enrollment / Annual Student Information Update page for more information.
8th Graders moving on to High School
Congratulations! Your child will roll over to their home school of attendance. If you wish for your child to attend a school that is not their home high school, then you will need to apply for a spot through the Open Enrollment process.
INTER-DISTRICT / INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFERS
If your child is attending Peterson Middle School on an Inter-District transfer, you will need to obtain a new transfer for the upcoming school year from your home district and have it approved by the Director or Student Services to keep your child's place here at Peterson.
If your child is here on an Intra-District transfer, this is a one year agreement only and expires at the end of the school year. You may apply for a spot for the following year through the Open Enrollment process which begins in January. If your Open Enrollment request is not granted, your child will be sent back to your home school of attendance.
