Hello Parents,

For the most part, I have almost every supply students will need, but they will need some essentials. So I've broken it down by subject because not all students have me for three classes. Some only have me for Social Studies. So here is the list by subject:

Social Studies:

  • 1 Spiral Notebook. Probably doesn't need to be more than 80 pages.
  • 1 Folder with pockets on each side when you open it up. This is to hold work and papers.
  • 1 glue stick. I have glue sticks, but it's much easier if each student has their own.

Reading:

  • 1 Spiral Notebook. Probably doesn't need to be more than 80 pages.
  • 1 Folder with pockets on each side when you open it up. This is to hold work and papers.
  • 1 Highlighter. Yellow is the best.

Language Arts:

  • 1 Spiral Notebook. Probably doesn't need to be more than 80 pages.
  • 1 Folder with pockets on each side when you open it up. This is to hold work and papers.

For the Classroom, this is kind of a wishlist. Feel free to pick one of these things, two of these things, whatever you feel comfortable with(this would be donated to the classroom for general use):

  • 1 Box of tissues
  • 1 pack of copy paper
  • 1 pack of binder paper
  • 1 pack of Expo markers dry erase
  • 1 pack of pencils
  • 1 pack of index cards (3 x 5)
  • 1 pack of index cards (5 x 7)
  • 1 pack of post-it notes (stickies) that are 3 x 3 (we use these a lot!)
  • 1 pack of Sharpie markers, chiseled tips, multi-color.

I plan to put this in the "Back to School Night" presentation and then update as I go if there's anything else we'd need in terms of classroom supplies.

Thanks for your generosity! Welcome to 6th grade at Peterson Middle School!

We start off on Monday with a reading assignment that they'll have the whole week to complete (Located in TCI).

Then, we start studying Early Man.

We start the week by studying elements of fiction, and this week it is "character" and "characterization." Monday will be an interactive slideshow to review that, followed by the story "Lob's Girl" in EMC which is a good example of characterization.
